This article explains how to close your River account, what requirements must be met, and how River handles your data afterward.
To close your River account, you can email support@river.com and our Client Services team will process your closure request.
You can also close your River account directly on the app.
1. Open your River app and tap your profile icon found in the upper-left corner of the app.
2. Then, tap the headset icon in the top-right corner.
3. Scroll down and tap "Close account."
4. Read the disclosures, tap "Dismiss," and confirm your account closure.
In order to complete an account closure request, all of the following requirements must be met:
- Request is sent from the verified email or phone number on file with your account
- Your bitcoin balance is zero
- Your cash balance is zero
- You do not have any active mining contracts
- You have resolved all outstanding transactions
- You do not have any pending wires or bank transfers
River may retain your personal information for the longer of:
- Five (5) years;
- The length of time required by law;
- The length of time required by our compliance program;
- The length of time required by our fraud prevention program; or
- The length of time required by our banking partners.
Please note that if you delete your River account, we may still retain your personal information as explained above. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy. Please also note that you will not be able to access your account after it is closed.
