Smash Buy is an optional feature that allows you to quickly navigate to a buy preview screen with your preferred purchase amount pre-filled, bypassing the initial steps of the standard bitcoin buy flow. This feature is activated by default to all eligible clients.
Please note that tapping the Smash Buy button does not immediately execute a transaction. It takes you directly to a dedicated buy preview screen where you can review your order details, funding method, and applicable fees before confirming your purchase.

What are the minimum and maximum amounts for Smash Buys?
The default pre-selected amount for Smash Buy is $100. You can customize this configuration to any value, subject to the following limits:
- Minimum amount: $10
- Maximum amount: Your account's standard bank transfer (ACH) limit
What payment methods can I use for Smash Buys?
Smash Buy supports both your River cash balance and your linked bank accounts. You can easily review or manually change the selected funding source by clicking or tapping the "Change" button on the buy preview screen before placing your order.
Does River charge a fee for Smash Buy?
Yes. Orders placed via Smash Buy are processed as standard one-time market orders. River's regular tiered fee schedule and spreads apply to these transactions. For more information on River's fee structure, please see this Help Center article.
Where can I access the Smash Buy button?
Once you activate the feature, the Smash Buy shortcut button can be accessed across multiple convenient locations:
- River App Home Screen: A wide "Buy $100" (or your custom amount) shortcut bar will populate directly at the bottom of your bitcoin price chart.
- Full-Screen Price Chart: A shortcut button will appear stacked directly underneath the standard gold "Buy bitcoin" button.
- River iOS Price Widget: If you have added the River bitcoin price chart widget to your iPhone, a Smash Buy button will automatically integrate within the widget, allowing you to launch straight into your pre-set buy preview screen without opening the app first. Please note that if you have more than one account, the widget will open the last account you had open.
