Article Summary
This article explains how to receive your two-factor verification code as an automated phone call when the text message is slow to arrive.
Text message delivery depends on your mobile carrier, so a code can arrive late or not at all. When that happens, you can request an automated call that reads the code out loud instead.
Step 1: Request the code
Log in to your account as usual. River sends a verification code by text to the phone number on file, and the "Enter the verification code" screen appears. If you are using the River app, the screen is titled "Enter verification code."
Step 2: Choose the call option
If you are using river.com, click "Call me with a new code" below the code boxes. If you are using the River app, wait about 30 seconds until "No code received?" appears, tap it, then tap "Receive a call with the code."
Step 3: Answer the call and enter the code
Answer the call and listen for the code as it is spoken. Enter that code on the verification screen to finish logging in.
- Please note that the call is automated and only ever plays your verification code. River will never call you to ask for a code, your password, or any other personal information, and a call you did not request is not from River.
- Please also note that if you have requested several codes in a row, a countdown appears before you can request another. Wait for the countdown to finish, then request the call.
- If you no longer have access to the phone number on your account, the call will not reach you. Email support@river.com and Client Services will help.
