Learn how to edit an active recurring or supercharged recurring buy, including amount, payment method, and multiplier changes.
For recurring buys, you are able to edit your payment method or recurring buy amount.
For supercharged recurring buys, you are able to edit your payment method, recurring buy amount, or your supercharged multiplier.
You can also supercharge your existing recurring buy or change your supercharged recurring buy to a regular recurring buy. For instructions on how to supercharge an existing recurring buy, please see this Help Center article.
If you instead wish to change the frequency or execution time of an existing recurring buy, you will need to cancel and start a new recurring buy. For instructions on how to cancel a recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy, please see this Help Center article.
Step 1: Click "Activity & Orders"
To start, click "Activity & Orders," found on the left side of your river.com homepage. If you are using the River app, you can view your active recurring buys or supercharged recurring buys from the "Bitcoin" tab towards the bottom left side of the screen.
Step 2: Select the recurring or supercharged buy
At the top of the screen on river.com, you will see any active recurring buys and supercharged recurring buys. Click the buy you wish to edit.
On the River app, scroll to where it says "Recurring buy" and click on the associated order from there.
Step 3: Click "Edit order"
Here, you can view the current details of your existing recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy. Click into the associated order and click "Edit order" if you would like to make any changes.
Step 4: Update details
You can update your recurring buy amount, payment method, or both.
If your existing recurring buy is not already supercharged, you are able to supercharge it and select your supercharged amount.
If your existing recurring buy is supercharged, you are able to update your supercharged amount or turn your supercharged recurring buy into a regular recurring buy.
Please note the following details when editing an existing recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy:
- You can only increase your recurring buy amount up to double your current amount or decrease it by half your current amount.
- You can only change your amount once every 30 days. For scheduled recurring buys, you will be able to change your amount 30 days after the execution time of your first recurring buy.
- Your payment method can be updated anytime.
- Your supercharged recurring multiplier can be updated anytime.
- You can turn your existing recurring buy into a supercharged recurring buy anytime. You can also disable supercharged buys on your existing recurring buy anytime. You can update the supercharge amount anytime too.
Step 5: Review changes
Review what's changing, what happens next, and confirm your changes.
Step 6: Confirm changes
Click "Confirm changes" when you are satisfied with your selections.
Step 7: Recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy updated
Your recurring buy has been successfully updated and you should see these changes reflected on your "Activity & Orders" page.
If you are using the River app, you will see the changes reflected on the "Bitcoin" tab towards the bottom of the screen.
How do amount edits affect my recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy?
Please note the following details for recurring buys:
- You can increase your amount up to double your current setting. For example, you could increase a weekly recurring buy from $10 to $20.
- You can decrease your amount by up to half of your current setting. For example, you could decrease a weekly recurring buy from $10 to $5.
- You can only make one change every 30 days per recurring buy. For scheduled buys, you can make your first edit 30 days after your first buy is executed.
- If your order is supercharged, any changes to your regular buy amount will automatically update your supercharged amount.
- Your supercharged multiplier will update automatically if you edit your recurring buy amount. In other words, the multiplier applies to your new recurring buy amount, not the previous amount before you made the change.
- If your buy is supercharged, you can also increase or decrease your supercharged multiplier. You can increase or decrease your supercharged amount anytime by selecting between 25%, 50%, 100%, or 200%.
When do changes take effect after I edit my buy amount?
Your new amount will take effect at your next scheduled buy. In some cases, it may also affect your next bank transfer, depending on how your recurring buy is funded and your recurring buy's frequency.
How is my payment method affected for my recurring or supercharged recurring buy?
If you are editing an hourly or daily regular recurring buy, review the table below to see how your recurring buy will change.
Please note that your bank account will be debited once per week, and the cash will be reserved in your River cash balance for your recurring buys over the next seven days.

How do payment method edits affect my recurring or supercharged recurring buys?
You can change the payment method of your active recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy anytime.
If your recurring or supercharged buy is hourly or daily and funded with a linked bank method, any payment method changes will take effect on the next scheduled bank transfer date.
Otherwise, any payment method changes will take effect on the next scheduled recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy.
How is my recurring buy or supercharged recurring buy affected?
For your hourly or daily buys, please review the details below:

- River will continue using this bank account until you edit the buy again or cancel it.

- River will continue using this bank account until you edit the buy again or cancel it.
