This article explains how to set a default bank account on River and how it applies to future transactions.
Your default bank account will automatically populate as your preferred payment method when transacting.
Step 1: Click "Profile & Settings"
If you are using river.com, click "Profile & Settings" found in the bottom-left corner of the homepage. If you are using the River app, tap your profile icon found in the upper-left corner of the app.
If you have multiple accounts under your River login, ensure that you have entered the account for which you intend to set a default bank account. Default bank accounts are set separately for each River account. You can switch your account in the top-left corner.
Step 2: Access your linked bank accounts
Scroll down and click "Linked bank accounts" on river.com. If you are using the River app, tap "Banking & Funding" and then tap "Linked bank accounts."
Step 3: Choose bank account
Click the bank account account you wish to set as the default option.
Step 4: Click "Set as default"
Click "Set as default" to continue. If you are using the River app, you can use the toggle to set this bank as your default.
Step 5: Review selection
Review your default selection and click "Confirm." If you are using the River app, you can click the gold "Done" button to save your selection.
Please note that your default bank account selection will not change the payment method for any of your active orders, such as recurring buys or pending Target Buys.
Step 6: Your default bank account is set
You now have a default bank account for your River account. This can be viewed or changed at any time in the "Funding & limits" section within "Profile & Settings."
If you are using the River app, this can be viewed or changed at any time from the "Linked bank accounts" section within "Profile & Settings" at the top left hand corner of your mobile screen.
