Article Summary
This article explains common reasons why your bank account may have disconnected from River and walks you through how to reconnect it.
River uses Plaid to securely link your bank account. For more information, please see this Help Center article.
If you notice your bank account has been disconnected from your River account, it's likely due to one of the reasons below:
| Reason | Remedy |
| Your bank login credentials have changed | If you recently updated your online banking username or password, Plaid will no longer be able to maintain the connection. You'll need to relink your bank account with your updated credentials. |
| Your two-factor authentication (2FA) method has expired | Some banks require periodic authentication for security. If your bank requires two-factor authentication, Plaid may prompt you to verify your identity to establish the connection again. |
| Your bank has updated its security settings | Banks occasionally update their login or security protocols. These changes can disconnect your bank from Plaid. You will have to log back in to reconnect. |
| Your bank or Plaid is experiencing technical issues | There may be temporary outages at Plaid or at your bank. These issues are typically addressed within a short period. |
