This article explains the statuses you'll see when sending or receiving bitcoin with River, from initiation through final confirmation, and what each one means for your transaction.
When you send or receive bitcoin with River, you can follow it through each stage in real-time. This article explains what each status means.
You can view these transaction details anytime from the "Activity & Orders" page in your River account. If you'd like to track your transaction status in real-time, see this Help Center article on enabling Live Activities.
You can also track your transaction on Mempool using the Transaction ID (TXID). Please note that Mempool's ETA estimates when the transaction will be confirmed on the network (1 confirmation), whereas River's ETA estimates when your funds will actually be available in your account (2 confirmations).

Sending bitcoin
After a bitcoin send is initiated, its status will show as "Send in progress." In most cases, it moves through the following stages:
| Status | What it means |
| Send initiated | River is preparing your requested send for the Bitcoin Network. This usually takes a few moments. |
| Information required (only shown when applicable) | In certain cases, River must verify additional information before your bitcoin send can be processed. You may be prompted to provide additional details. Your bitcoin will not be sent until this step has been completed. |
| Awaiting verification (only shown when applicable) | Once you submit the requested information, our team will review the details. Verification times may vary, and the transaction status will update as soon as the review is complete. |
| Queued for broadcast | Your transaction is queued for the Bitcoin Network through River. While being sent, you'll see the send as "Broadcasting." |
| Confirmed on-chain | Your transaction has been picked up by the Bitcoin Network and is undergoing confirmations. This process usually takes around 10 to 60 minutes, but can take longer when the network is busy. |
| Send complete | Your bitcoin has been sent and the transaction is complete. If you're sending to another wallet or institution, the funds may take additional time to appear on their end, depending on how quickly they process incoming transactions. |
Receiving bitcoin
An incoming on-chain bitcoin deposit moves through the following statuses:
| Status | What it means |
| Receive detected | River has detected an incoming transaction to your River account. It has not yet been confirmed on the network. |
| Awaiting confirmation on-chain | Your transaction has been included in a block and is undergoing confirmations. River requires 2 confirmations, or 3 for transactions of 0.1 BTC or more, before your bitcoin is deposited to your account. |
| Funds added to your balance | Your deposit has been confirmed and the bitcoin is now available in your account. |
Please note that the actual arrival times will vary. Bitcoin transactions are settled by the network, and not by River. The exact timing depends on how busy the network is and the fee rate for your transaction. Arrival times may also vary depending on the receiving exchange, which may require additional confirmations before crediting your bitcoin. Large transactions of 10 or more BTC may take up to 24 hours.
