This article explains how to change your phone number on River, including verification steps, the protection period, and lost number options.
If you still have access to your original phone number, you can update it anytime in your account settings on river.com. If you no longer have access to your original phone number, please contact Client Services at support@river.com.
Please note that updates to your phone number must be made from a web browser and cannot be completed directly from the mobile app.
Step 1: Click "Profile & Settings"
Click "Profile & Settings" in the bottom-left corner of the River homepage.
Step 2: Click "Phone number"
Click "Personal details" in the Account section, then click "Phone number."
Step 3: Acknowledge the account protection policy
Click "I understand" to acknowledge the temporary account protection policy.
Once you change your phone number, a three-day protection period begins. During this time: bitcoin sends (on-chain and Lightning) are disabled, new River Links cannot be created, and automatic withdrawals cannot be edited or created.
Step 4: Enter the verification code sent to your original phone number
Enter the verification code sent to your original phone number. Then click "Continue."
Step 5: Select your country code and enter your new phone number
Select your country code in the dropdown menu and then type your new phone number. Then, click "Continue."
Step 6: Enter the verification code sent to your new phone number
Enter the verification code sent to your new phone number. Then click "Continue."
Step 7: Phone number has been updated
Your phone number has been updated on your River account. You will now see a green banner at the top of your screen confirming this change on your account. Your new phone number will also reflect in your "Profile & Settings."
