Keeping your address current helps ensure your account records, tax documents, statements, and mailed items are accurate. You can update your residential and mailing addresses directly in your River account on both river.com and the River app.

Who can update residential and mailing addresses?
Individual accounts
- Individual clients can update both their residential and mailing addresses. If you already have a mailing address on file, it will display in Settings. If there is no mailing address saved, only your residential address will appear. Mailing addresses are used for tax documents, account statements, bitcoin sale history documents, and mailed gifts. If no mailing address is on file, River will default to your residential address.
Business accounts
- Authorized users can update both their own residential and mailing addresses. If there is no mailing address saved, only your residential address will appear. Note that for business accounts, the Business's mailing address will be used for tax documents, account statements, bitcoin sale history documents, and mailed gifts.
- Authorized users can also update the Business's mailing address. This address is used for tax documents, account statements, bitcoin sale history documents, and mailed gifts.
Where do I go to update my address?
- Log in to your River account on river.com or your River app
- Go to Settings. If you are using river.com, click on "Profile & Settings" on the left side of the home page. If you are using the River app, tap on your profile icon in the upper-left corner of the home screen
- Select "Personal details" in the "Account" section for individual account updates or authorized user updates for business accounts. To update the Business's mailing address, select 'Business details' in the 'Account' section instead.
- Select the address you want to update
- Enter your new address and save your changes
How soon will my residential or mailing address update take effect?
Residential and mailing address changes will reflect immediately. Updated addresses apply to future account statements and tax documents. Previously issued documents will not change.
Are there any important limitations to know?
Residential addresses cannot be virtual or commercial addresses, P.O. Boxes or located in unsupported jurisdictions. Mailing addresses may be P.O. Boxes or virtual or commercial addresses. Country changes must be handled by contacting Client Services. If you're unable to update your address, please contact support@river.com.
